Years ago, I discovered a secret. It is about time and productivity.
I had been working in my business for several years when I uncovered an interesting thing about my production and it was happening most of the time.
I keep records as I have mentioned. In fact, I basically keep records of everything in my business. I am an anal record keeper and I analyse them constantly.
Here’s the thing I discovered about my productivity and time management.
All counties of the world have public holidays. For example:
4th of July.
Independence day.
Religious holidays.
Bank holidays
Many holidays where you do not work. You spend the day with family and friends.
There are also days when you need to take out of your work week for industry expos, industry professional development days, and so forth. Either way, you accumulate days away from your business. This affects your business productivity. Or does it?
I found my productivity did not change. In fact, some weeks it increased.
It always excited me about up coming ‘short weeks’ I knew I would have a strong productive outcome.
This never changed. Every short week, the same results. More or equal productivity in a shorter time frame.
So I got to thinking. What if I manufactured a short week every week? Sounds great.
Next, I took my weekly planner in those days no digital diaries. Then I scratch out every Friday. There was only space to make appointments four days a week.
Don’t gloss over this. This is powerful stuff. This might save your marriage, relationship, your sanity. It works. If you don’t believe me, try it.
What I did with the free day, as I called it was whatever I wanted to do.
The only thing you may not do on your free day is to work in the business. Do not go near the office. Go away. Go fishing, play golf, work on your hobby. Do not work.
There is more to this and I will mentor you on refining this even more over the period you want to keep reading my website. Suffice to say there are several massive elements that changed in the 4-day work week I created. I know this was a major contributor to my success in building my business to eventually selling it for a far great profit than I ever dreamt of.
What I have detailed is doable for every single business. Doesn’t matter what business you are in. When starting your own business, getting this going right up front sets you up for outstanding productivity and exponential growth.
Eh, it’s great to have you read this far.
I’d like to send more information about this and other topics in my monthly newsletter.

It is about time we discussed something about time. As my grandma used to say "Time doesn't stand still". Well, actually it does. from time to time. Every few years we have a leap second to adjust the atomic clock to the rotation of the sun. So time actually does stand still for a second. It's not something you'd notice but it is a fact.
Time flies so fast when you are totally involved.
Ever been in a situation where you are at a football match or at a race meet, where there is minutes or seconds to go and it is so close and you are in front. You are willing your team, your horse or your car to get over the line. It's so close. Hold on, hold on. Maintain the lead, keep pushing. Defend. Don't drop the ball. Push push.
How long do those few seconds take?
They take an eternity. That's how long they take.
Yet on the other extreme when you are with the person you love or doing the thing you love to do, hours, seem like minutes, minutes seem like seconds.
Same amount of time. Two different scenarios.
As I mentioned in the page about natural ability, time flies when you are totally involved in your passion or hobby.
Me, I love writing. When I write time just passes by. Minutes turn into hours. I skip meals. I need to force myself to stand and have a break. I am doing what I love. It makes no difference if I'm writing freehand with my Apple pencil on my Ipad or typing away on my Macbook.
A time management system, as with any business project or, in fact, pretty much everything you do in life has a process and it is about time.
For example, if you have to get a bus, train or airplane, you are working on their time schedule. The transport is going to be there at a prescribed time. Be there, or wait for the next one. So the only control you have is to be there or else.
Now, having your own time schedule is a different deal altogether. Your time management is, well, your time management. In the attempt to keep it simple stupid, you are in control. ‘No shit Sherlock’.
You know the story. Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day, blah, blah, blah. How come some people get more done than others? How come some guys get so much more done than others within the same time frame? Have you ever thought about this?
The simple answer is they manage their time. Obviously, eh? But wait there’s more. They manage not only their time; they cheat. Yes folks, they cheat. They get more done because they collect more hours in a day than the 24. How do they do that, you ask?
Anything you want to know or having trouble with just ask...

Thanks for taking your time.
Let me explain. I’m sitting here writing this and somewhere in the world someone is editing it. Someone is creating the structure. Somewhere in the world, someone is organising my schedule for client communications. Somewhere, someone is doing something for me. Get it?
The other thing is, they probably do it faster and better than I can. Make sense?
Do you know some authors take 2-3 years to write and publish a book, and some people write a book every couple of months? How is this so? Delegate, that’s how.
Now, as a side issue here, forget about perfection. Just do it. Then work out the grammar, spelling errors, and shit later. Just get it done.
There is more to this than just delegating and I have more to say about this later, but having a clear goal of the purpose of your task and a clear goal of the big picture is paramount.
“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.”
Stephen Covey, author.
The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
Live out of your imagination, not your history.
Trust is the glue of life. It's the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It's the foundational principle that holds all relationships.
Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.
I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.
Let’s say you have 10 things to do this morning before midday.
List them down as you think of them. Do not put them in any order at this stage.
Once you have all the tasks written in front of you, then the next thing to do is prioritize them. You will find more by going to 'secrets to achieving goals'.
Experience isn't the best teacher, experience is the only teacher.
