  • Let’s start with the obvious. If "I hate my job" is your daily mantra, you don’t need more signs—you already have your answer.

  • Tip: Keep a journal for a week. 
  • Write down your thoughts about work at the end of each day. 
  • If negativity dominates every entry, it’s time to plan your exit.

2. Your Work Environment Is Toxic

  • A workplace that breeds negativity,

  • or micromanagement is not a healthy environment. 
  • If you constantly feel drained, anxious, or unappreciated, 
  • your work environment might be the problem.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I feel safe speaking up at work?
  • Is my boss supportive or controlling?
  • Am I surrounded by constant drama and negativity?

3. You Feel Physically or Mentally Exhausted

  • A job should challenge you,
  • it shouldn’t make you sick. 
  • If you experience burnout symptoms, like chronic fatigue, 
  • anxiety, 
  • headaches, 
  • or stress-induced illness, 
  • Cannot cope with the toxicity.

  • Track how you feel before, during, and after work.

Consider:

  • Have you been passed over for promotions?
  • Are new skills or ideas discouraged?
  • Do you feel like your job is leading nowhere?

In simple terms…a job that keeps you stagnant is a job that limits your growth.

  • If you’re stuck in repetitive tasks with no room to use your talents, you’re being underutilized. 
  • Staying in a job that doesn’t challenge you will slowly erode your confidence and passion.

What to do:

  • List your skills and compare them to your job responsibilities.
  • If there’s a gap, look for roles that align with your strengths.

How to Prepare for Resignation

Resigning doesn’t mean jumping without a parachute.

Here’s how to do it wisely:

Build an Emergency Fund – Aim for 3-6 months of savings to ease the transition.
Update Your Resume & LinkedIn – Highlight your achievements and skills.
